Grail Holy Blood, Holy

0ur opinion:

Item Description:
ls the traditional, accepted view of the life of Christ in some way incomplete?

• ls it possible Christ did not die on the cross?
• ls it possible Jesus was married, a father, and that his bloodline still exists?
• ls it possible that parchments found in the South of France a century ago reveal one of the best-kept secrets of Christendom?
• ls it possible that these parchments contain the very heart of the mystery of the Holy Grail?

According to the authors of this extraordinarily provocative, meticulously researched book, not only are these things possible — they are probably true! so revolutionary, so original, so convincing, that the most faithful Christians will be moved; here is the book that has sparked worldwide controversey.

'Enough to seriously challenge many traditional Christian beliefs, if not alter them.'
Los Angeles Times Book Review

'Like Chariots of the Gods?...the plot has all the elements of an international thriller.'
Newsweek

Review:
Michael Baigent, Henry Lincoln, and Richard Leigh, authors of The Messianic Legacy, spent over 1O years on their own kind of quest for the Holy Grail, into the secretive history of early France. What they found, researched with the tenacity and attention to detail that befits any great quest, is a tangled and intricate story of politics and faith that reads like a mystery novel. lt is the story of the Knights Templar, and a behind-the-scenes society called the Prieure de Sion, and its involvement in reinstating descendants of the Merovingian bloodline into political power. Why? The authors of Holy Blood, Holy Grail assert that their explorations into early history ultimately reveal that Jesus may not have died on the cross, but lived to marry and father children whose bloodline continues today. The authors' point here is not to compromise or to demean Jesus, but to offer another, more complete perspective of Jesus as God's incarnation in man. The power of this secret, which has been carefully guarded for hundreds of years, has sparked much controversy. For all the sensationalism and hoopla surrounding Holy Blood, Holy Grail and the alternate history that it outlines, the authors are careful to keep their perspective and sense of skepticism alive in its pages, explaining carefully and clearly how they came to draw such combustible conclusions. --Jodie Buller

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Well Worth the Price ...
Whether or not you believe what the author presents, it is a fascinating read. This is the type of book that incites and individual to maybe question and hopefully dive deeper into their own investigation. Just as a heads up, the author's other book The Temple and The Lodge is not worthy of this initial writing and should be avoided.

Buyer Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Exhausting
Having loved The Da Vinci Code l'd thought l'd delve deeper since Holy Blood Holy Grail was the inspiration for it. Big mistake. This was an absolutely exhausting book to read. lt seems to go on for over 3OO pages of endless genealogies before it gets to the main hypothesis. lt's an extremely slow read,at times repetitive and incredibly boring. The subject was interesting but getting there will kill you. Don't do it.

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - lt's awesome
What an incredible book. 0nce you start reading it, you won't be able to set it down. The premise of this complex story is this- three different religions set out to discover the bloodline of Jesus and to accurately paint the picture of his life. With very little evidence this would prove a daunting task. While the book is controversial, it is all well written and a treat to have read. l even got yelled at by my boss for reading the book on company time. l've read it 4 times and each time is like the first time. There is a lot of information to process so get ready be blown away. lt's awesome. Also, if you missed reading GEORGlOU's masterpiece--FATES, go and read it. Fates (classic)

Buyer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * Holy Blood, Holy Grail ...
Well according to the gospels THERE lS! ls there something odd about the way Jesus was tried & convicted by Rome's accord? lf you read the gospels with a historic eye THERE lS! People pick up the bible and read it along with what they question and you will come out with the same conclusion

The word Baraka means "blessing" in several languages; watching this film, the viewer is blessed with a dazzling barrage of images that transcend language. Filmed in 24 countries and set to an ever-changing global soundtrack, the movie draws some surprising connections between various peoples and the spaces they inhabit, whether that space is a lonely mountaintop or a crowded cigarette factory. Some of these attempts at connection are more successful than others: for instance, an early sequence segues between the daily devotions of Tibetan monks, Orthodox Jews, and whirling dervishes, finding more similarity among these rituals than one might expect. And there are other amazing moments, as when sped-up footage of a busy Hong Kong intersection reveals a beautiful symmetry to urban life that could only be appreciated from the perspective of film. The lack of context is occasionally frustrating--not knowing where a section was filmed, or the meaning of the ritual taking place--and some of the transitions are puzzling. However, the DVD includes a short behind-the-scenes featurette in which cinematographer Ron Fricke (Koyaanisqatsi) explains that the effect was intentional: "It's not where you are that's important, it's what's there." And what's here, in Baraka, is a whole world summed up in 104 minutes. --Larisa Lomacky Moore

The tricky topic of interracial romance gets a sexy, charming, and unexpectedly realistic treatment in Something New. Kenya (Sanaa Lathan, Out of Time, Alien Vs. Predator), a successful accountant, gets set up on a blind date with Brian (Simon Baker, The Ring Two)--only to discover that he's white, leading her to cut the date short. At a party, Kenya admires the garden and gets introduced to the landscape architect: Brian. Thus begins a bumpy but increasingly sparky relationship, despite opposition from Kenya's friends and family, as well as Kenya and Brian's own internal resistance. Make no mistake, Something New is a mainstream romantic comedy, with ridiculously attractive people grappling with problems that get solved with just a little too much ease--but along the way, Kriss Turner's script, Sanaa Hamri's direction, and Baker's and especially Lathan's performances ground the movie in something resembling the real world. Kenya's and Brian's emotional terrain has a genuine texture to it; the rhythm of the dialogue and the visual pacing allows their characters to breathe and become more genuine and vivid than your standard rom-com lovers. The strong supporting cast--including Alfre Woodard (Crooklyn), Donald Faison (Scrubs), Mike Epps (Next Friday), and Blair Underwood (Full Frontal)--doesn't hurt. But Lathan owns the movie; this actress deserves true stardom. --Bret Fetzer
